We The People Opportunity Farm is committed to creating pathways for formerly incarcerated individuals through meaningful work and personal development. As part of our mission, we are launching a social enterprise—a world-class café—that will employ and be run by formerly incarcerated men and women.

Position Overview
The Planning Coordinator will play a pivotal role in managing the planning phase of WTPOF’s social enterprise development. This individual will oversee coordination, collaboration, and progress tracking, ensuring all key milestones are met.

Responsibilities

  • Project Management:
    • Develop and maintain a detailed project timeline, outlining goals, deadlines, and deliverables.
    • Organize and facilitate planning meetings with stakeholders, partners, and WTPOF leadership.
    • Monitor progress and address any potential roadblocks promptly.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Act as the primary liaison between WTPOF, community partners, funders, and consultants.
    • Coordinate focus groups with formerly incarcerated individuals and other stakeholders to gather input for the café’s design and mission.
    • Communicate updates and progress reports effectively to all stakeholders.
  • Research & Analysis:
    • Gather data on successful social enterprise models and workforce development strategies.
    • Analyze and synthesize data to inform decision-making during the planning phase.
  • Administrative & Documentation:
    • Prepare agendas, meeting notes, and progress reports.
    • Assist in drafting key planning documents, including business models, budgets, and proposals.
  • Collaboration with Leadership:
    • Work closely with WTPOF’s Executive Director and Board of Directors to align planning activities with organizational goals.
    • Support grant reporting and documentation as required.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in project management, strategic planning, or nonprofit development.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with social enterprises or workforce development initiatives is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., Trello, Asana, or Microsoft Project).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for WTPOF’s mission and values.

Work Environment
This is a hybrid role requiring both remote work and occasional on-site meetings in Ypsilanti, MI. Flexibility in schedule and access to reliable transportation is necessary.
